Leventhorpe Receives Eco Schools Silver Award

Published on 23 February 2012

Leventhorpe has recently been awarded Eco Schools Silver Award Status.  Eco-Schools is an international award programme that guides schools on their sustainable journey, providing a framework to help embed these principles into the heart of school life.

Leventhorpe is proud to receive this award, which really recognises the hard work put in by our Eco Global Group.  Eco Global Group works tirelessly to ensure that we recycle and re-use paper, monitor our energy use, use wind turbines and energy efficient lightbulbs where possible; that students learn about Fairtrade partly through termly Fairtrade stalls, and that we use Fairtrade products where possible.  In addition, the kitchens use local produce where they can.  We also sponsor an acre of rainforest in Ecuador, recycle cartridges and mobile phones and there is an imposed limit on the number of items we can print at one time.

The next Fairtrade stall will take place at break and lunchtime on Wednesday 29th February.
