Higher Education Information for Current Students in the Sixth Form

University Application - Supporting Documents

All of our students applying to university will need to produce a strong personal statement. A Leventhorpe Guide is provided with suggested structure and examples. It is important to use these for ideas only and never to copy as UCAS do electronically check personal statements for plagiarism.

Students will be signing up for their UCAS accounts in school. Anyone who has missed this opportunity and instructions can use this step-by-step guide .

Useful links

FutureLearn: https://www.futurelearn.com
Allows students to undertake independent study beyond their A-Levels, to really help their university applications stand out.

Unifrog: https://www.unifrog.org/
All students will set up a Unifrog account. If they don’t know their sign-up code they need to ask their tutor. Provides a diverse range of ways of searching and ranking courses at universities and colleges across the UK, and also an apprenticeship search tool.

Student Finance: https://www.gov.uk/student-finance-register-login
Students and parents will have to complete details on the site during the spring of the year they intend to go to university, which for courses starting in September 2018 will likely be April/May 2018.
Another useful site to go to for an introduction to the options for student finance is the independent ‘Mythbusting’ article on http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/students/student-loans-tuition-fees-changes
