Shrek the Musical Jr.

Once upon a time in a faraway swamp....

Audiences were treated to a wondrous and hilarious tale of love and flatulence by performing arts students in Years 7 to 9 this term.

A show for all the family, this musical performance made audiences smile, frown, laugh and clap along, hugely impressed at the enormous talent on show at Leventhorpe School.

Sid Martin played Shrek to perfection, even with the accent! And he and his side-kick, Donkey (Summer Waite) had the audiences laughing out loud with the comic timing and excellent rapport.

Fiona was played by Liv Bethell and Violet Hall who both sang beautifully and gave wonderful performances as the quirky, blunt Princess under the curse.

Other stand-out performances were given by the talented Lani Calladine who played the leader of the fairytale creatures, Pinnochio - sassy but with a tendency to 'bend the truth' and both Emily Wood and Honey Askew who played the younger Fionas had the audiences spellbound with their beautifully harmonising voices.

The ensemble all clearly enjoyed every minute of being on stage and their slick and well-rehearsed choreography and singing practice paid off in what was an energetic and fun-filled production.

And all this was accompanied by a full live band made up of students and staff - a truly impressive performing arts triumph!

We can't wait to find out which production will be next!
