Leventhorpe ended the Spring Term with its first-ever Spring Showcase of music and drama.

From the Easter-themed table decorations to the drinks and hot snacks available throughout the evening at the licenced bar, there was a relaxed and fun atmosphere at this cabaret-style evening which drew a packed hall over two sell-out nights.

Over 100 students took part in the Showcase in which our Drama club students delighted the audience with scenes from ‘Jane Eyre’ which interspersed the musical numbers performed by students and staff function bands as well as student-led groups and individuals.

It was a truly wonderful evening with highlights such as the Year 9 band ‘Enigma’ who performed an original composition by Adam Smith (vocals and keyboard) as well as some cracking tracks by the Intermediate Band ‘DysFUNKtional’ which got the audience singing and cheering.  Eddie Bray certainly shook some nerves and rattled some brains with his fellow Year 11 Band’s rendition of ‘Great Balls of Fire’ and you could hear a pin drop during Charlotte Pedroz and Emily Hare’s soloist vocals which both earned huge applause.

The evening culminated in a finalé of ‘Uptown Funk’ (music by the Senior Function Band ‘Who’d Have FUNK It?’) by which time there was clapping and dancing as the whole hall joined in with the singing.

It is always a joy to watch young talent at its best and our Spring Showcase did not disappoint!  With so much talent on show, this event will certainly become an annual event on the Leventhorpe calendar and most definitely one NOT to miss!
