Teaching & Learning

At Leventhorpe, learning is at the heart of everything that we do including our mission statement:

“Together we provide the care and opportunities of all to grow, learn and face challenges with confidence.”

The world is a complex and rapidly changing place and we recognise as educators that our challenge is to provide young people with the skills they will need to adapt.  As a school with outstanding teaching and learning and a leading player in the local teaching school alliance, we take our learning challenge extremely seriously and to do this we work hard to stay abreast of the latest educational thinking.

At Leventhorpe we explicitly teach thinking through a whole-school approach. We see that there is a synergy between thinking and knowledge and we enhance this by training students with the Leventhorpe Thinking Toolkit.

Leventhorpe is working towards becoming a Thinking School as recognised by the University of Exeter. Indeed, in 2018-19 we became the Hertfordshire Training Hub for the thinking school approach together with Thinking Matters Ltd. Please click here to find out more about Thinking Schools.
