Leventhorpe celebrated its sporting heroes in style this month with its annual Sports Awards Celebration Event.

With special guest, Olympic gymnastics medallist Beth Tweddle presenting the awards, all nominees were invited to take part in the evening, along with their parents and carers.

The Sports Hall looked amazing, dressed in the Olympic colours with tables set for 320 dinner guests. Students had the opportunity to meet Beth and have their photo taken with her and her bronze medal before enjoying a burger and chips meal followed by fresh ice cream from JB's ice cream van.  Meanwhile, adult guests were served a 2-course meal in the Sports Hall and had the opportunity to buy tickets for an incredible raffle with prizes donated by local businesses.

Students then returned to the Sports Hall for the presentation ceremony which began with a fascinating Q&A session with Beth Tweddle in which parents and students had the opportunity to pose questions to Beth about her sporting career.  There then followed the awarding of badges, medals and cups which were given to our top performing students in each sport discipline.  Sports colours were given out as well as Player of the Year and Most Improved Player of the Year.

It was a wonderful evening which we hope our students will remember for many years to come.
